Dr. Jerry Ninia is a dual board-certified physician with over 30 years of experience in vein care and women’s health. After earning his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI, he returned home to Long Island to complete an internship and residency in  OB/GYN at Nassau University Medical Center.

Recognizing the growing need for specialized vein care, Dr. Ninia pursued additional training in Phlebology through an intensive preceptorship program. He went on to earn certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with expertise in diagnostic ultrasound.

Dr. Ninia brings a breadth of knowledge and experience to patients at the Varicose Vein Center, including the latest minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided treatment techniques for all stages of chronic venous disease.

Building a 30-Year Legacy in Vein Care

Over the past three decades, Dr. Ninia has established himself as one of the leading voices in vascular medicine, contributing to the field in numerous capacities.

Pioneer

Dr. Ninia was present during a transformative period in vascular medicine, when minimally invasive laser techniques began replacing traditional surgical vein stripping. This timing allowed him to master both the fundamentals of venous disease treatment and the cutting-edge procedures that would come to define modern vein care.

Leader

As a result of his deep expertise, Dr. Ninia became a recognized authority in the field of Phlebology. He served on the American College of Phlebology Board of Directors from 2000 to 2008, where he played an instrumental role in developing the nationally administered Phlebology board certification exam. He currently serves as Director of the Department of OB/GYN at St. Charles Hospital.

Lecturer

Dr. Ninia is a frequently invited speaker at international vascular conferences and has delivered over 100 lectures related to the topics of women’s health, vascular medicine, and venous disease. He is passionate about advancing his specialties and helping current and future generations of physicians expand their capabilities.

Author

Dr. Ninia has contributed extensively to the medical literature on vein disease, authoring three textbook chapters on superficial and deep vein thrombosis, sclerotherapy, and endovascular therapy, along with 25+ peer-reviewed articles on venous disease diagnosis and treatment.

Educator

Dr. Ninia’s contributions to medical education extend to his role as Clinical Associate Professor at Stony Brook University Renaissance School of Medicine. He is also the clerkship director for New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) medical students rotating through St. Charles Health System’s department of OB/GYN.

Founder

Dr. Ninia founded the Varicose Vein Center in Port Jefferson Village over 30 years ago to provide the kind of expert care he believes every patient deserves. The practice’s roots trace back even further, to one of the first dedicated vein practices in the United States, which was established in New York City in the 1940s. Dr. Ninia carries forward this legacy of specialized vein care, maintaining an attentive, patient-centered approach where he personally performs every consultation and treatment.

Advocate

Dr. Ninia’s commitment to patient care extends beyond his practice. From 2010 to 2014, he served on the Catholic Health Services of Long Island Board of Trustees, where he helped create quality initiatives to improve patient safety across the hospital system.

His work resulted in St. Charles Hospital earning the Healthcare Association of New York State Pinnacle Award. For his outstanding contributions and leadership, Dr. Ninia received the prestigious Theodore Roosevelt Award, recognition given to individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to improving healthcare at Long Island hospitals.
